Villa prices by area
A private pool villa is what sets Bali apart. These are estimated nightly prices for a one-bedroom villa, and they swing a lot between July and August, the year-end holidays and the rest of the year:
| Area | Private pool villa per night (estimate) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Ubud | USD 80 to 250; luxury valley-view villas from USD 400 | Honeymoons, nature and rice fields |
| Seminyak | USD 120 to 300 | Couples who love restaurants and sunsets |
| Nusa Dua | Mostly large resorts: rooms USD 120 to 300, villas inside resorts from USD 300 | Families and calm swimming |
| Uluwatu | USD 150 to 450 | Cliffs, sunsets and privacy |
Our estimates build on Bali Holiday Secrets (May 2026): private pool villas usually run USD 160 to 280, the best-known areas such as Uluwatu and Seminyak cost about 40% more than quieter ones, and Ubud has competitively priced mid-range options. Private drivers and getting around
- A car and driver for the day is the easiest way to see the sights. The price usually covers the driver and fuel, not entry tickets or lunch, and some drivers ask you to cover parking and tolls, according to Bali Untold.
- A day is usually 10 to 12 hours; trips to the north and west cost more because of the distance, and prices rise in December, July and August.
- Tips are not required; many travellers give IDR 50,000 to 100,000 a day.
- Roads are congested and a short distance on the map can take an hour or more, so don't change hotels too often.
Nusa Penida: what does the day trip cost?
- Fast boat from Sanur: usually IDR 150,000 to 250,000 one way, according to PickYourTrail (July 2026), or IDR 300,000 to 500,000 return, according to Breathing Travel.
- Island fee: IDR 25,000 per adult and IDR 15,000 per child, paid on arrival.
- Getting around the island: roads are rough, so a car with a driver or an organised tour combining boat, car and lunch is best.
- With children: the sea can be choppy and the path down to Kelingking Beach is very steep, so the trip suits older children better.
Food in Bali
- A meal at a local warung is usually USD 1.50 to 3, a casual café USD 4.50 to 8, and fine dining USD 50 or more per person, according to Bali Holiday Secrets.
- Menus marked "++" add about 21% for service and tax.
- Halal food is found at Muslim-run Indonesian restaurants and at Arab and Indian restaurants; always ask about pork, which is common in Balinese cooking. More in Bali with kids.
Converting the budget to AED and EGP
- UAE dirham: pegged to the dollar at about AED 3.67. A comfort-level week for a couple (USD 1,250 to 2,400) is about AED 4,600 to 8,800.
- Egyptian pound: about EGP 55 to the dollar, according to Pound Sterling Live (23 October 2026), and the rate moves quickly. The same budget is about EGP 69,000 to 132,000.
How to save without losing the fun
- Travel in the dry season, April to October, but avoid the July and August peak if you can. See the month-by-month guide and compare your holiday dates in the Holiday planner 2027.
- Ubud gets you a private pool villa for less than Seminyak or Uluwatu, so spend your villa nights there.
- Group nearby sights into one day with your driver rather than separate rides.
- Pay the Love Bali levy and apply for the e-VOA on the official sites only; don't pay middleman sites.
